Elizabeth Short and Gordon Fickling settled into the Brevoort Hotel on Lexington Avenue, near Vine Street in Hollywood from August 20 until August 27, 1946.

In 1975 when Regis Philbin was hired by KABC-7 to host "AM Los Angeles," the Brevoort was his first Hollywood home.
Rudolph Valentino, early before his film career took off, lived at the hotel. The silent film star Louise Brooks, out of work in the mid-1930s, lived at the Hotel. The Black Dahlia, Elizabeth Short, also out of work, in 1946 lived there for a month. Dr. Buzz Von Ornsteiner, a television psychologist (CopyCat Killers REELZ 2016-2019), lived there in the late 1980s while appearing in a number of B films, Robot Holocaust (1986),Mutant Hunt (1986) & Slashdance (1989). The hotel was known as an place for "the actor between pictures".

I think I read that actress Pert Kelton (popular in the 30's) owned it in the 1950's or so.
